Keep Stepping Up!
When you are planning to take on a new goal or a new activity how do you go about it? Are you a lone ranger who likes to figure everything out on your own? Or do you go in search of people who have already mastered what you are starting on?
I was a lone ranger for way too many years. What that meant was I was working way too hard with way too little information. You see I thought I was smart enough to figure it all out on my own. I have a good education, I have lots of experience and I am a logical thinker. AND what I failed to acknowledge was that there was an awful lot that I didn’t know I didn’t know!
One of the greatest things that happens when I work with other people is that all my “ceilings” of what is possible and how it is possible get blown apart. I am always inspired by how others approach the same thing and the results they are able to create. This is what encourages me to keep stepping up.
You see we all limit our self in some way based on what we know. We have some amazing blinders that are a result of past experiences and unless we allow others into our space so these blinders are challenged we likely will not get beyond them.
This is why working with a coach or mentor is so beneficial. They can help us to ask new and different questions. To see things in us that we can’t see in our self. To hold the belief for us when we are too shaky to do it for our self.
Every successful person I know works with a coach or mentor. It is an investment in themselves. There is a belief in what is next and that it is possible for them achieve it. What is it that is next for you? There are many different kinds of coaches. Once you are clear on what your area of growth is for this year reach out and find a mentor or coach who works in that area.
You will know that you are on the right path when your stomach tightens and that little knot of fear kicks in. If you don’t experience this you are not stretching! Why not go for it this year – you are going to pay a year of your life for it no matter what.
