I know it’s your favorite time of the year.
All the resolutions we “should” make for a happier, healthier, more prosperous new year. One thing I have found is that without a bigger longer term vision making resolutions for this year just feels like a list of “should” which is not much fun.
One thing 2020 showed us is that things can change in an instant. Life can throw things our way that we have no control over and then it is up to us to figure out how to manage the change. I heard the word Pivot over and over in 2020. The truth is how you pivot, if not couched in a longer term plan, is very reactionary.
It’s like those action movies I love so much where the hero handles all obstacles that come at him and at the end of the day good overcomes evil every time. What makes this so powerful is we all have an understanding of the bigger vision of good overcoming evil.
So what is your overarching vision?
For the sake of what do you get out of bed every day and do what you do? Why are you willing to figure out how to pivot and keep figuring it out?
When we take the time to truly develop our vision in life then there is a peace that comes no matter what. A peace that comes from knowing that no matter what life throws at us we know where we are headed and why now all we have to do is figure out the how in light of what is in front of us.
And then of course put numbers to it all to make it more concrete! Numbers are an amazing tool to help us stay on track, measure success, and forecast options.
