This weekend my grandchildren were here to visit with my daughter. Always such a joy to have them home. I’m always amazed at how much they have changed in the few weeks between visits.
They are both very industrious. You can almost see the wheels spinning in their minds as they tackle every task. They do not suffer from the perfectionism issues that I do. Trying something multiple times is part of the fun. Boredom or frustration are not an issue at all. There is always a new thing to learn!
When was the last time you tackled something like that? We spend so many years in our early life learning. It is our only work – to learn. Then somewhere along the way we cross this line where we stop learning with the same intensity. We begin the path of results and accountability. We develop expectations of our self that can sometimes lead to frustration or we check out and become bored with a topic. Is money one of those areas for you?
What if you approached it with the childlike industriousness?
What if you were willing to try again and have fun doing so?
Money management is truly not complicated. What is complicated is our emotions around it and trying to work with systems that are not a good fit for us.
If I asked a child to complete a quiz that was designed for an engineer there would simply be frustration and no tangible results. If I asked an engineer to take the quiz they might even have fun with it. Its the same with our money management systems. Mostly what I see is systems that are “easy to use” yet were never set up correctly so any information they give is truly useless. I see tax returns filed with this information. Bank loans attempted with this information. Companies stalled in growth because of this information. Years of work with no wealth accumulation because of this information.
If you are thinking that 2017 is the year for you to once and for all tackle this area of your life let’s connect and see if we are a good fit. We meet our clients where they are, whether you have everything in a box or you’ve been working with a provider and you know things can be better, we are happy to touch base with you and if nothing else help you determine your next best step.
